MOONSPELL “Wolfheart” LP

Moonspell is a Portuguese band formed in 1992 that has become one of the most important bands in the European metal scene. Their music evolved from black and folk metal towards a distinctive, dark gothic metal style, combining heavy riffs, a gothic atmosphere, keyboards, and the deep vocals of Fernando Ribeira.

Wolfheart, Moonspell’s debut studio album, was originally released in 1995 and is today considered one of the most important albums of early European gothic metal. The album reveals a band still firmly rooted in black metal, but clearly moving towards a more melodic, atmospheric, and gothic sound. The classic songs “Vampiria” and “Alma Mater” have become the band’s signature songs and are among the most recognizable compositions in Portuguese metal.
