Hailing from Płock, Schröttersburg is one of the most interesting acts on the contemporary Polish independent music scene. From the outset, the band has operated at the intersection of post-punk, new wave, industrial, and experimental music, gradually expanding its sound to incorporate elements of darkwave, psychedelia, noise, and heavier, darker forms.

Their music often relies on atmosphere, repetition, and the building of tension rather than classic rock song structures. Schröttersburg skillfully blends the raw edge characteristic of post-punk with more trance-like, hypnotic passages. Another key feature of the band is its openness to experimentation and collaboration with artists from various corners of the alternative music scene.

Melancholia • Dekonstrukcje

Released on October 27, 2020, the album *Melancholia • Dekonstrukcje* is a unique entry in Schröttersburg’s discography. It is not a standard album of new material, but rather a collection of remixes and reinterpretations of the band’s songs, crafted by artists associated with the broader alternative and experimental music scenes.

The title itself—*Melancholia • Dekonstrukcje* (Melancholy • Deconstructions)—aptly describes the album’s concept. Familiar Schröttersburg compositions have been transformed and presented from entirely new perspectives. While the band’s original music serves as the starting point, individual artists reconstruct it by altering rhythms, textures, atmospheres, electronic elements, or the heaviness of the sound.

Intriguingly, the album brings together artists representing vastly different musical worlds. Alongside remixes rooted in electronic and industrial music, the tracks incorporate elements of darkwave, experimental music, ambient, and even atmospheric black metal.
