Formed in 1978 in Devon, England, Amebix stands as one of the key pioneers of crust punk. The band was among the first to fuse the aggression of anarcho-punk with the heaviness of heavy metal, forging a distinctive style that profoundly influenced both the crust scene and extreme metal. Although they disbanded in 1987 and made a brief comeback in the 21st century, their greatest significance remains tied to their classic era and material like “Arise!”.
