“Sonic Mass” marks Amebix’s return after a hiatus of over two decades—an album that sees the band evolving its signature heavy sound into a more expansive blend of post-punk, heavy metal, hard rock, and dark atmosphere. Originally released in 2011, the material is far more spacious and mature than the band’s classic recordings, yet it retains the characteristic heaviness and grim mood of Amebix.

Amebix formed over 20 years ago on the Isle of Skye in the UK and became the first English band to be released by Jello Biafra on his Alternative Tentacles label (the *Arise!* album in 1985). Their subsequent album, *Monolith*, was released via Heavy Metal Records in 1987. The current reformed lineup features Roy Mayorga, known for his work with Soulfly and Stone Sour. This reissue of the 2011 album *Sonic Mass* is pressed on silver vinyl.
