BRUTAL TRUTH “Kill Trend Suicide” LP (neon violet)

Brutal Truth is one of the most important bands in the history of American grindcore. The group was formed in New York in 1990 by bassist Dan Lilker, who had previously been associated with bands such as Anthrax and Nuclear Assault. It was his experience with extreme metal and hardcore that helped lay the foundation for one of the most influential grindcore bands of the 1990s.

Brutal Truth played a pivotal role in the development of American grindcore and in popularizing the genre beyond its original underground scene. Dan Lilker’s contributions were particularly significant; his background with Anthrax and Nuclear Assault positioned Brutal Truth at the intersection of several scenes: thrash metal, death metal, hardcore, and grindcore.

The band influenced subsequent extreme metal acts, and their albums *Extreme Conditions Demand Extreme Responses*, *Need to Control*, and *Sounds of the Animal Kingdom* are now considered genre classics.

Brutal Truth disbanded in 1999 but returned to the stage in 2006. After years of touring and recording, the group called it quits again in 2014.

*Kill Trend Suicide* dates back to the late 1990s and represents a key stage in Brutal Truth’s evolution. The EP was originally released in 1996, falling between the albums *Need to Control* and *Sounds of the Animal Kingdom*. The material captures the band at a point where they were far more experienced yet still heavily engaged in experimentation.
