Dark Foil is one of Dopethrone’s most psychedelic and expansive works. The band blends their distinctive, distorted sludge/doom with a more trance-like, hypnotic narrative, creating heavy, extended compositions filled with fuzz and a narcotic atmosphere. The material balances between raw aggression and a slow, addictive groove, and tracks like “Zombi Powder” showcase the band’s penchant for extended, almost ritualistic forms.

The album also includes Bill Withers’ interpretation of the classic “Ain’t No Sunshine,” filtered through a heavy, doom sound.
