FREDAG DEN 13:E “Dystopisk Utsikt” CD

The forerunner of melodic crust, TRAGEDY, inspired numerous bands worldwide, laying the foundation for what later evolved into what some call neo-crust. They found imitators in bands such as MYTERI, DESZCZ, and FREDAG DEN 13:E from Gothenburg.

“Dystopisk Utsikt,” or “Dystopian View,” is their fourth album, the previous one being “Domedagar,” released in 2015, and consists of 11 frantic tracks, totaling over 30 minutes.

It’s not just the crust melody, like in the opening track “Plågad Av Ljuset,” but also the rock’n’roll, heavy riffs and solos of “Av Skuld Och Skas,” familiar from MOTORHEAD and POISON IDEA. The whole thing is complemented by great production by Brad Boatright of FROM ASHES RISE and a few piano accents here and there.
