ROTTING CHRIST “Theogonia” LP Gatefold

“Theogonia” is a breakthrough album in the Rotting Christ discography, on which the Greek black metal masters developed their distinctive style, combining heavy riffs with melodies inspired by ancient mythology and the musical traditions of the Mediterranean region. Monumental guitar parts, ritual atmosphere and choral motifs give the compositions an epic dimension, while maintaining their metal rawness. It is dark, sublime material in which the primal energy of black metal meets a mystical atmosphere and references to ancient beliefs.

Rotting Christ was formed in Athens in 1987 and is one of the most important bands of the Greek extreme metal scene. Under the leadership of Sakis Tolis, the group gradually developed its own sound, combining black metal with melody, folklore elements and mythological themes. “Theogonia”, originally released in 2007, is one of the key albums at this stage of the band’s development.
