Product description

Schröttersburg is a band from Płock operating at the intersection of post-punk, cold wave, industrial, noise rock, and experimental music. The group has established itself as an act that refuses to be confined to a single style, blending a punk and new wave core with psychedelia, krautrock, space rock, noise, and post-industrial experiments.

The band began its activity in the early 2010s, releasing its debut material—*Demencje – demo 2013*—independently. Over the following years, Schröttersburg consistently developed a distinctive, dark sound, releasing albums through labels such as the Polish imprint Zoharum.

While the group’s music is rooted in the tradition of Polish cold wave and post-punk, Schröttersburg certainly does not adhere to the genre’s classic formula. Their work incorporates psychedelic passages, trance-like rhythms, krautrock-style motorik drive, industrial textures, and noise experiments. Zoharum highlights the band’s characteristic openness to other genres: tracks that retain a new wave core can abruptly shift into entirely different musical territories.

This trance-like quality and experimental nature are key elements of Schröttersburg’s music. The band does not rely solely on conventional song structures; instead, their sound is often built through rhythm, the gradual building of tension, repetition, and the layering of sounds. Consequently, the group’s concerts and recordings can take on an almost hypnotic quality. Reviews of their live shows have frequently noted their improvisational passages and an atmosphere resembling a kind of musical séance. “Ignis” is the seventh studio album by Schröttersburg, released on August 28, 2026. The record was issued on CD, LP, and cassette through a collaboration between several independent labels: Zoharum, D.I.Y. Koło Records, Bat-Cave Productions, Hidden Beauty Records, and Esion Records. The release coincided with a live performance by the band at the Dwie Wieże festival.

On *Ignis*, the band leans even more heavily into industrial, noise, and heavy, trance-like electronic soundscapes, while still retaining its post-punk character. Sounds described by the label as “hauntological” appear in the background, creating an atmosphere of mystery and unease.

The title “Ignis”—Latin for “fire”—carries symbolic significance. It is portrayed as an element of transformation and spiritual energy: old habits are consumed by flames, giving way to a new strength. Thus, the music aims not only to build an atmosphere but also to transport the listener into a kind of surreal, internal state.

The album has been described as a “natural and powerful meditation” rooted in resonances, flickering visions, and distorted melodies. This aptly captures the direction in which Schröttersburg has evolved over the years: moving from dark post-punk toward music that is increasingly ritualistic, psychedelic, and experimental.
