ABOUT THE BAND:
Schröttersburg is a band from Płock that has spent over a decade consistently developing its own highly distinctive brand of dark alternative music. The group started out in the realms of coldwave and post-punk but gradually opened up to industrial, krautrock, psychedelia, noise, and experimental music. As a result, their work defies simple genre classification.

The band’s name references the historical German name for Płock. Schröttersburg’s music is deeply rooted in the city’s atmosphere—its history, memory, transformations, and sense of unease. The band employs cold, hypnotic rhythms, trance-like instrumental passages, dark textures, and experimental sounds to create music that is experienced rather than merely listened to.

Over the course of successive albums, Schröttersburg has clearly evolved its artistic language. Their debut releases, *Krew* (2015) and *Ciało* (2016), were still firmly rooted in the post-punk and coldwave traditions. *Melancholia* (2018) saw a further stylistic expansion, incorporating psychedelia, krautrock, and experimental elements. Meanwhile, *Melancholia. Dekonstrukcje* (2020) was a unique project in which tracks from the previous album were reinterpreted by other artists, shifting the band’s sound toward electronica, industrial, trip-hop, noise, and experimental black metal. In 2021, the album **”Dalet”** was released, dedicated to the memory of the Jewish community of Płock and the victims of deportations from the Płock ghetto. The album’s title and symbolism were inspired by Kabbalah. A year later, the band released **”Om Shanti Om,”** delving even deeper into trance, psychedelia, krautrock, and industrial music.

“KOSMOGONIA”:

Released in December 2023, **”Kosmogonia”** marks the next stage of this evolution. The band defines its sound through a blend of atonality, psychedelic soundscapes, industrial textures, noise, dark wave, and rhythms with an almost ritualistic character. It is music that is trance-like, hypnotic, and at times unsettling.

The album can be viewed as a kind of sonic ritual. Rhythmic repetition, noise, distorted sounds, and psychedelic spaces gradually build an atmosphere of detachment from reality. Instead of a classic song structure, we encounter successive stages of a musical journey—from **”Ananta,”** through **”Terra Sancta”** and **”Poza Ciałem,”** to the album’s closer, **”Terra Ignota.”**

The title itself—”Kosmogonia” (Cosmogony), a story of the world’s creation—aptly reflects the material’s character. The album employs symbols of creation, earth, nothingness, light, and transformation, while blending primal, tribal rhythms with a modern, experimental sound.

This is one of those albums that should not be treated merely as a collection of tracks. **”Kosmogonia” works primarily as a cohesive whole—a sonic space where Schröttersburg’s post-punk roots meet industrial, krautrock, psychedelia, and noise.**
